Water everywhere!

I suppose the heading says it all - the last couple of weeks seem to feature water in one way or another.

Since I last wrote it has been really hot and dry. I know we cats are desert animals and that we do love to sunbathe but it has been really hot even for us! We love it when Joan gets home from work and opens up the door to the garden so that we can run out and find our very favourite shady spots.

Max likes to run over to the birdbath and stand up tall for a drink of water and then we all set off to explore the shrub beds and look for any intruders that we need to chase away.

The other day we were all out playing in our garden and Oscar was minding his own business wandering around the bushes just in front of the water feature. The fountain is on a time clock and all of a sudden it switched on just as he was passing. The funny thing is that although he has seen it operating many times it would appear that he had never really noticed it until then.

He was absolutely fascinated and set himself the task of finding out where the water was coming from and why!

Oscar tries to deflect the water

As quick as a flash Joan rushed to get the camera (again!) and took lots of quick pictures of him playing with the water.

Needless to say he was so busy with the water he never even noticed he was on camera!

I wish I knew what it is about water that fascinates both Max and Oscar. Each morning when Joan goes to take her bath Max leaps into the bath before Joan can put the plug in and then Joan has to lift him out before she can set the water running!

Today for the first time in days it has rained, and rained, and rained. That meant that our evening game was very short indeed but it also meant that the weather was much cooler. We celebrated this by having a really good chase and hide game in the house running up and down stairs and leaping over the climber at great speed. Joan thought that we had given up our wild games - just goes to show that she still has much to learn!

Life is just a series of hectic games, lots of good food and long snoozes - sort of the typical cat way to spend the day. Joan on the other hand busies herself doing human things like vacuuming, cutting the grass and other jobs why she doesn't just curl up in the sun with us we don't know!

As you can see from the photo alongside we have a problem all trying to fit on to the climber now that there are three of us. Yesterday we had a huge parcel delivered which contains another bed to fit on the climber.

Joan has been trying to decide where to fix it and at the moment it is sitting between the two high beds so it is like a waterall of cats.

The trouble is that young Oscar isn't very good at settling down to sleep so he tends to attack Max from below if he gets on one of the lower beds which Max isn't too keen on. Plus if I am on the high bed he can reach to pull my tail!

We are still debating to location for it so that we can all use it to sleep on rather than play fight on!
