Summer 2004

We had really begun to think that the cold winter weather was far behind us and that we were now able to enjoy the lazy, hazy days of Summer as we had done last year.

The sun had been shining and we had spent lots and lots of time out in the garden either playing at 'chase' or snoozing under the bushes waiting to surprise a passing bird.

We had smelled the aroma of barbecues in neighbouring gardens and seen loads of seagulls poised on the roof waiting to steal a few tasty morsels.

All was well in our little world and we thought it would stay like that until the leaves got tired of sitting on the branches and came down to play with us in the autumn.

Needless to say it was not to be. Last week we seemed to have winter back again with gales, rain and much colder weather so we ended up staying indoors where it was safe and warm!

We do much prefer being out in the fresh air of course but Joan doesn't like us out in the bad weather because apart from anything else it makes the house cold if she leaves the door open for us.

Given that we had to stay inside we decided to stay in bed sometimes rather than get up and rush outside as we usually do.

If you look at the pictures you can see that Oscar decided it was best to snuggle under the covers whereas Max and I prefer to stay on top of the bed (chiefly because if we go under the covers Oscar finds it irresistible to jump on us!)

The other day Joan found a simply excellent web site which gave details of Chronic Renal Failure in cats with lots of helpful pages all about the disease.

This is the disease which our predecessor Lucy died of. Katy, her sister died of Acute Renal Failure so this is a subject which is of interest to Joan and perhaps to other cat owners.

Joan has put a link to this site on Katy and Lucy's page and the 'links' page so if you are interested in knowing more you can either click here or go to either of the pages listed above.
