Max celebrates his first birthday!

Max is now a year old and weighs in at around 10lb so he is no lightweight. That cute 'kittenish' expression conceals a mischievous young cat who likes to be in on the action whenever there is anything to investigate. He had quite a bit to celebrate on his birthday because the Cats Protection League have used a photo of him, as a kitten, to promote the London Marathon on their web site. If you want to see it go to http://www.cats.org.uk/events.html and follow the links that say 'Great News for marathon runners'. His prize for being the Felix 'Rascal of the Month' for January in Your Cat magazine is winging its way to him and he got a lovely 'e-card' all the way from his pals Ben and Sally in Germany so, all in all, it is a birthday to remember. Max and Lara plan to spend the day quietly at home soaking up the sunshine in the conservatory! Joan |
Winter days are here ! | |
So this is winter? Well I must say we aren't too keen on it - at least I am not. Max doesn't seem to mind too much when we go out on to cold or wet grass but I much prefer the summer with short dry grass on the lawn which we can scamper over and chase and play on. The other day we had a light sprinkling of snow which was cold and wet on my feet so I avoided it so far as I could. Max being Max went off as an intrepid explorer and decided it would be fun to follow the footprints in the snow to see where they would take him! He didn't get too far - only to the dustbin and back but then he says all explorers have to start small - just until they get the hang of things. He reckons even Sir Edmund Hilary must have started with short trips! Lara |
